ANNOUCEMENT OF CANDIDACY FOR SENATE
National Assembly
Delta North Senatorial District
DELTA STATE
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
By
Sir Tony Umadim Nammor – For SENATE
Today, I come before the honorable people of Anioma, Delta State and our country Nigeria to announce my intention to run
for the office of Federal House of Assembly as a Senatorial candidate for Delta North District in Delta State.
I speak to both the young and old people of Delta state, far and near, home and abroad that in order to restore the great
legacies of our forefathers in building a formidable land called ANIOMA where people of great culture, heritage and wealth
originate. We must UNITE.
I seek your support in unifying our people for a common goal of developing the entire region and enriching the noble people
of this state.
This campaign as the slogan rightly states, is a tour of duty, a tour of hope and a tour of courage for the people of Anioma
and Delta State as a whole.
I will not miss words without paying great tribute to those heroes and heroine of Anioma, who sweated and toiled this land
of ours for which we as the children of this region have come to appreciate as home and for which noble men and women
have been made.
I am a son of Anioma, born of Anioma parents and proud to be a descendant of this great area in Delta State. My
mission is simple.
As I travel around the region, state, country and overseas, I am forced to indulge in conversasions with various people,
among which are sons and daughters of Anioma. The notable fact that seems to bind us together is our Anioma language and heritage
and that which seems to separate us is our diverse opinions which is less visible to the progressive minds which tends
to bring the sons and daughters of Anioma together for growth.
I am on a mission, to systematically create and put in place developmental values and attributes for the people of Anioma.
A system that would initiate policies favorable to the speedy development of the grassroot people of Anioma and most especially
set in motion the policies for the creation of Anioma state.
Our lands are rich, our people are wise with noble heritage and our culture is strong but the people are struggling
to survive.
Something is seriously wrong with this picture !
There is an imbalance in the developmental process for Anioma and the high level of marginilisation of her indigenes
in the unfair policies and legislations by the federal government of Nigeria.
I will fight to restore this values, policies and legislation’s which would unite and favor our people and encourage
grassroots development.
Today, Anioma is in crisis. Identity crisis, image crisis and developmental crisis which summarizes the plight of the people.
Our leaders are far from acknowledging the reality of impoverishment which has plagued the region and the unfair treatment
the people are receiving from both the state and federal government in resource sharing.
Developments are seen in and around the state with little or no consideration to the region and leaders enriching themselves
with the people’s wealth with impunity.
Another aspect is the notable inclusion of the majority of state executives and assembly members from the central
and south districts. A system put in place to continue to marginilise the northern district.
There is lack of proper infrastructural facilities and where such is in place, it is obsolete with less chances of refurbishment.
Amenities have become a privilege to most grassroots indigenes of the region. Where such is available, legislations and policies
have made it unaffordable for the local people of the region.
The educational system is far from meeting up to the nations standard in view of the fact that the region contributes immerse
resources and finance to the state and nation as a whole.
Our contributions to national development are enormous in the social, cultural, economic and political sectors of the Nigerian
economy. Anioma sons and daughters have excelled in their various areas of expertise and contributions to national growth.
The local farmers and traders in the region are seen as grassroot developers by contributing their fair share to the food
industry of the state but lack incentives and subsidies to enhance their production and growth.
The people of these region are known to be very loyal and peaceful within the state but the sad news remains that Anioma
region of the Delta is still being ignored and marginilised. When compared to other districts and to a larger extent is least
favored in the state developmental processes and plans.
The youths of Anioma, bright and sharp as they may be are not spared from this cancer that’s depleting our region.
The number of graduates unemployed and wandering our streets has risen tremendously, leaving most of them feeling hopeless
with an establishment, which tends to be passive to their condition rather than sensitive to their needs.
The ideals, which this great nation was built on is on fairness and justice, equality for all and service to the people.
I am dedicating myself to this course. I have chosen the challenge, which has eluded great men and women of Anioma, but
rather than just identifying these challenges, I will face them squarely.
The people of Anioma must rise and be counted. We must rise above our diverse differences and opinions and UNITE.
United we stand ! Divided we stay weak !
Our children’s legacy and future lies on the decisions that we make and how much effort we put in place to develop
our culture, land and people.
As I travel through these great lands, which our fathers built for us, I bring with me HOPE and the values
and disciplines to unite us for growth and development.
SUPPORT NAMMOR-2007 CAMPAIGN OF HOPE FOR THE PEOPLE OF ANIOMA.
May God bless the good people of Anioma
May God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
